About Our Pastor

Reverend Cheryl Mills
Pastor, El-Shaddai Missionary Baptist Church

Reverend Cheryl Mills, a proud native of Cleveland, Ohio, is a U.S. Navy veteran who honorably served her country for over seven years. While stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, she met and married Deacon Fredrick Mills, and together they are blessed with four children and seven grandchildren.

In 1982, Reverend Mills dedicated her life to Christ. Upon returning to Charleston, she became an active member of Royal Missionary Baptist Church, where she served faithfully in the Usher Ministry. She also worked for over 17 years at the Medical University of South Carolina before answering her call to ministry.

As one of the founding members of El-Shaddai Missionary Baptist Church, established in 1992 under Reverend Leroy S. Bowers, Reverend Mills faithfully served in numerous capacities including the Usher Board, Trustee Ministry, and Missionary Board. In 1997, she accepted her call to preach and later graduated from Morris College School of Theology, becoming a licensed Evangelist in 2000.

In April 2005, Reverend Mills was installed as Pastor of El-Shaddai Missionary Baptist Church under the New Ashley Baptist Association. Since that time, she has led the church in tremendous spiritual and community growth, establishing ministries such as:

Save a Soul, Change the World – providing food and clothing to those in need.

The Academy at El-Shaddai – a Christian-based early learning center serving children ages 2–6. Media, Hospitality, Children’s, Men’s, and Food Bank Ministries – expanding outreach and discipleship opportunities for all ages.

Pastor Mills continues to be a visionary leader, dedicated to transforming lives through faith, education, and service. She also partners with several community initiatives focused on children’s literacy, family support, and senior care.

Her favorite hymn is “Hold to God’s Unchanging Hand” and her life motto is “God doesn’t make mistakes.” Above all, Pastor Mills believes her greatest accomplishment is her growing relationship with God and her commitment to leading His people with integrity, compassion, and purpose.
